The traditional village of Jimbaran was originally a village of fishermen and farmers. Since in the Jimbaran beach area, there have been many places to eat seafood (seafood) first in southern Bali as well as several international standard hotels, now the livelihood of local residents is more towards tourism.
Jimbaran is famous for its culinary tourism, namely Jimbaran grilled fish. This culinary tourism started from the initiative of a fishing village in Jimbaran that sells the fish they catch in the form of fish smoked using coconut fiber. Smoking makes the fish perfectly cooked, compared to grilled fish using high heat which often only makes the outside dry while the inside is still undercooked. This smoked fish is served with sambal matah or chili sauce using raw ingredients. Before the Jimbaran grilled fish culinary tour was known to the international world, Jimbaran Beach initially offered water tourism. The local fishermen only sell drinks while bringing provisions of grilled fish for them to eat. However, it turns out that many tourists are interested in taking part in tasting the provisions of the drink sellers until finally the idea of local residents emerged to open grilled fish stalls.
